Feature · Stage 4, Use the book

The reference you meant to keep while writing.

The document you wish you had when you start the sequel, holding the glossary, the people, the places, the factions, the technology and the consistency findings, in one file, built from the scan you already ran.

How it works

Assembled from the same scan.

1

Choose the sections

Eleven toggles: the glossary, characters, places, factions, magic and technology, first appearances, similar names and aliases, spelling inconsistencies, unexplained terms, one-off terms and the pronunciation guide. A book with no factions does not need a factions chapter, and leaving it out is one click.

2

Built from one pass

Nothing here costs another scan. Every section is a different view of the single pass already made over the manuscript.

3

Yours to keep

Download it as plain text or as a self-contained HTML page. Both are generated in your browser and saved by you, and nothing is stored on the server, so the file you keep is the record.

Use cases

What it is for.

Series

Opening book four without re-reading books one to three.

Collaboration

Handing a co-writer the whole world in one file.

Continuity editor

Everything they would otherwise have to compile by hand.

Adaptation

A reference for anyone working from your book rather than in it.

FAQ

Questions about the series bible.

Does it cost an extra scan?

No. It is assembled from the scan you already ran.

What file do I get?

Plain text, or a self-contained HTML page that opens in any browser. Both carry whichever sections you switched on, in the same order, and neither needs anything installed to read.

Can I edit it afterwards?

Yes. It is an ordinary document once generated - most authors add the things only they know, like what a term is for.

Does it include the reports that are inference rather than measurement?

Only if you switch them on, and each one carries its caveat into the document so a reader knows which parts are inference.
