How it works

No conversion step.

1

Drag your file in, or select it

Word drafts, Scrivener compiles, ebook exports, and plain text all work as-is, up to 20MB per file.

2

The engine reads its native format

.docx and .epub keep their bold and italic styling for pattern matching. .rtf and .txt are read as plain prose, so the formatting toggle is disabled for them rather than silently doing nothing.

3

Nothing is kept afterward

Your file is read into memory for the length of the scan and then discarded. No copies are written to disk and there is no server-side history.

Use cases

Whatever format your draft lives in today.

Fantasy

A Scrivener-compiled .docx straight off your outlining software.

Sci-fi series

An .epub exported from book one, to check consistency with the sequel.

Historical fiction

An .rtf from an older word processor, no re-saving required.

LitRPG

A plain .txt draft pulled straight from a serialisation platform.

FAQ

Questions about uploading.

What is the file size limit?

20MB, comfortably north of a doorstop-length novel.

Which format should I use if I have a choice?

.docx or .epub, since they carry the bold and italic styling the detection engine can search by.

Do running heads and footers get in the way?

No. For .docx, mention statistics are measured against the document body only, so a running head carrying a character name cannot pin that character's first appearance to the opening of the book. For .epub, navigation, cover, title and copyright pages are excluded the same way.

Is my file stored anywhere?

No. It is processed in memory for the length of the scan and is never written to disk or retained afterwards.
